It’s a Christmas card with a twist—it turns into a bauble to decorate the tree! The kids can make them in a flash and take them home as a little keepsake.

Where Christmas Cards Began:
Did you know Christmas cards started in 1843 in England? A man named Sir Henry Cole wanted to send Christmas wishes to his friends but didn’t have time to write long letters to everyone. So, he got an artist to design a card with a picture of a family celebrating Christmas and the words:

“A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to You.”

He had 1,000 cards printed (wow—that’s a lot of friends!), and people loved them! Soon, sending Christmas cards became a tradition in England. And still today, many people in the UK still send Christmas cards to close family, friends, and neighbors as a way to stay connected during the holidays.

Ask your class: “How many Christmas cards would you send?”
