The Cowley Road in east Oxford is just a short distance from the city centre. It is full of bars and restaurants and is a great place to socialise with friends. For those of you that want to relax or try something new, punting is a popular activity. Boats are available for hire from the Magdalen Bridge Boathouse. Oxford’s Botanic Gardens - home to nearly 6,000 different types of plant, is situated next to Magdalen Bridge. Entry is free for Oxford Brookes students.

Oxford is known for its architecture and historic buildings and is a great place to go sightseeing. The Varsity Club has a rooftop bar that has panoramic views of Oxford and is a great place to get some food or have a drink.

The Covered Market, situated just off the High Street, is home to lots of independent stores, eateries and boutiques. Larger department stores can be found in the Westgate shopping centre. To escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre, head to Jericho. Just a five minute walk from the city centre, it’s got a more relaxed pace with lots of restaurants and bars.

The Ashmolean, the museum of art and archaeology, is the world’s first university museum. Their world famous collections range from Egyptian mummies to contemporary art. The Natural History Museum and Pitt Rivers Museum are located a short walk from the city centre. These museums showcase everything from natural history specimens to archaeological and anthropological collections. All museums are free to enter.
