Clydebank '41 by Christopher Gough was commissioned by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and West Dunbartonshire Council to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Clydebank Blitz.

Part of the RSNO's Polska Scotland series, which celebrates the historical and cultural ties between Poland and Scotland, Clydebank '41 remembers the unique role of the Polish destroyer ORP Piorun in its brave defence of Clydebank during the Blitz.

Clydebank '41 is also part of the RSNO's Scotch Snaps series, supported by the John Ellerman Foundation, which shines a spotlight on composing talent in and from Scotland.

The Polska Scotland series is supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the international cultural programme marking the centenary of Poland's regaining independence and by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh. Financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland as part of the multi-annual Niepodległa programme 2017-2022.
