My boyfriend, Greg was and always will be such a big and special part of my life. He came into my life at the end of 2020 when I needed him most and showed me all the amazing possibilities that his love could offer. He’s given me not only the truest of loves but so many wonderful memories that I can hold onto and share for a lifetime. I loved him with every bit of me. I still love him and don’t think I ever will stop. I couldn’t fit my entire euology, so I wanted to share parts of it from his celebration of life just to express how much he means to me:

“When I first met Greg, we went on a picnic date. He bought us sushi, brought blankets, the whole set up and showed up in a button down, jeans, and his cowboy boots. Now for those of you who don’t know me, I am a diverse music lover; I love all genres but one, country. So my immediate thought when I saw his boots was “oh boy what am I getting myself into”. Now at this point in my life, I’ve been on several failed dates prior to this one, so I was prepared to be disappointed yet again. To my surprise, this was far different. Now it wasn’t our mutual love for sushi, or the way he appreciated music and film the same way that I did, or even the fact that he was a 6 foot 3 goofy giant that attracted me, but it was how much he could make me smile on the first date. Now when I tell you I’ve never met a man who could talk so much, I mean it. He probably talked the entire time and I’d just sit and listen. But it was the way he talked and how enthusiastic he was about everything. When he’d tell me a story or several jokes, he was animated and just full of so much light. I remember as soon as the date was over, we hugged goodbye and I got in my car and was immediately relieved to relax my jaw muscles because I could literally not stop smiling or laughing the entire time. I can easily admit that he captivated me in every single way, from our first moment till our last.

Now you think you have an idea of the ideal man and all the wonderful characteristics you look for in a future partner, but then comes Greg. He became not only my dream partner in life, but the closest friend I could ever have. He saw me for all my insecurities and flaws, but still loved me unconditionally. He brought me flowers nearly every week and always found ways to make me feel special. I never asked for him to do these things, he just did them. That’s how he was as a person. He was the kind of man to always buy an extra meal to give whenever he saw a homeless person or would always offer to drive out to whatever location I was at just so that I’d have a safe ride home from a night out. And whenever I was feeling down about myself or something in my day, he’d always be a phone call away to cheer me up and then immediately tell me “You’re not allowed to cry because I’m not there to wipe your tears away”. I can wholeheartedly admit that I’ve never loved someone this deeply until him.

Now my final words I direct to Greg,

Thank you my love for being the man of my dreams. A man who not only showed me an epic love that was possible, but who also helped me believe I was worthy of it. I always would pray to God that he’d send me someone special that I could love, and who’d truly love me for me, and he so gracefully sent me you. You have given me more in these past 6 months than I could have ever even imagined, and you have truly made me a changed woman. You have taught me to love selflessly, to embrace and love all uncertainties in life, and to love myself. You could never say “I love you” enough, and I only wish I could have told you or shown you how much more I loved you back. But I know this love I shared with you will last me a lifetime and I will forever hold you so close and dear to my heart. Thank you for gifting me our song “Quiet Man”, because everytime I listen to it now I am reminded of our love. And finally, thank you for choosing me. You’d always tell me that I was the love of your life, and I’m forever blessed that I got to be your person till your very last day. I love you Gregory Steven Gibbons. Forever and always my darling man.”
