During the 19th and 20th centuries, countless Muslims left the Balkans as the Ottoman Empire collapsed and other, more hostile, regimes took over. Some of those people settled the little town of Ayazma, around the year 1893. I wanted to get a better idea of how the Bosnians of Turkiye lived, what language(s) they speak, and most importantly, make some friends along the way. Come along!

As many as 2,000,000 people living in Turkey today have Bosnian (or Bosniak, since many people came from the Sandžak) and today many Bosnians in Turkey still speak the language, including in this town.
