Recall the scene where two assassins attempted to murder Michael Corleone at his Lake Tahoe home. Michael knew there were traitors within the family, and he couldn't trust anyone, not even his loyal bodyguard Al Neri.

Due to his paranoia, Michael hired someone with no connections to any of the ongoing deals within his family. This is where Bussetta comes into play.

Bussetta is one of the native Sicilian enforcers hired both as an assassin and Michael's personal bodyguard during his trip to Havana.

There is no clear backstory about this character in the film other than that he receives directives only from Michael.

This is evident in a scene where he even asked Michael for permission to shake Fredo's hand.

Loyal and vigilant, he accompanied Michael everywhere, including to Hyman Roth's house in Miami, prepared to handle any potential betrayal.

On New Year's Eve, 1958, after eliminating Hyman Roth's lieutenant Johnny Ola, Bussetta stealthily entered Roth's hospital room in Havana. Just as he was about to suffocate Roth with a pillow, Cuban soldiers burst in and shot him multiple times, killing him.
