Creating A Faux Toile Look With Thrifted Items - DIY Toile And Fall Decor

Описание к видео Creating A Faux Toile Look With Thrifted Items - DIY Toile And Fall Decor

In today’s video I’ll show you how I created faux toile fabric on thrifted home decor. I'll be using fall colors and chalk paint to create the look of toile fabric on a thrifted pewter tea pot and pewter coffee pot. I started by giving both pieces a coat of primer to help the chalk paint stick to the metal surface. Next I used two coats of straw-colored chalk paint as a backdrop for the rest of the fall colors I'll use in today's makeover thrifted pieces. To create the toile design I used IOD stamps and ink and applied them in the same pattern you might see in toile fabric. The ink is a copper color from Prima Redesign that I found on Amazon. Follow along as I show you step by step how I transformed these two pieces and gave them a faux toile design.
I also did a makeover on a small wooden plate that started with a Christmas theme but I used wooden stamps from Hobby Lobby to add Fall touches. Some of the items I thrifted required very little to update them and two pieces were just fine as I found them. One of my favorite thrifted finds in this video is a large wooden cheese box that had been hand painted at some point in its past life. It has lovely neutral Fall colors and a primitive design. Two decor pieces with finials were also pieces that needed nothing. Their design has a lovely combination of rustic aged wood with a French style finial atop each one. And finally, a set of primitive bookends was a great find. These are rustic with wonderful aging and patina yet soft enough and neutral enough to use with my neutral decor. I repainted the base of these bookends to add more neutral tones to them.
