How to Cook Fresh and Dried Pigeon Peas (Gandules)

Описание к видео How to Cook Fresh and Dried Pigeon Peas (Gandules)

Yes, I was finally able to grow gandules (pigeon peas) in the Midwest with the Northern Adapted Pigeon Peas. The plants are new so they did not grow as much but I was glad to harvest some gandules (just 3 pounds). If the plants survive during the winter, they will get much taller and produce more gandules next summer.

In our culture, we harvest the green pods. The pigeon peas are green and tender. If they are left long enough on the plant, they will turn brown and are considered dried pigeon peas.

I created a video on how to cook fresh pigeon peas and dried pigeon peas that were harvested from my garden in the Midwest.

Once they are cooked, the difference from both types is the color. Otherwise, they have the same appearance, size and taste. Cooking and food preparation tips are provided. A video is also included harvesting the gandules. A new successful produce that was introduced to my garden this year.
