A 1950's idea of supermarket shopping in the future which involves products being selected and the selections being stored on a metal cylinder (or key) to be read by a computer later. A checkout lady takes the metal cylinder (or key) from a customer and inserts it into a “check out lock” – the bill for the customer’s product is then automatically printed.
