High speed rail in the United States has been a well debated topic in modern society for quite some time now. However, it wasn't always that way as at one point, the US had plenty of well-known streamlined, fast steam and diesel locomotives pulling famous trains. A failing American rail industry in the 1960s and 70s although led to the collapse and abandoning of much of the established infrastructure. A renewed interested in high speed rail in the US throughout the 1980s and 90s though led to the eventual development of the Acela Express in 1999-2000. What else led to the research, development, and eventual implementation of the Acela? Find out in this episode of Engines of Amtrak. This is final episode I had to remake out of those taken down off YouTube for copyright reasons so yay! Don't worry though, this won't be the last episode like last time when Engines of Amtrak first came out, I'll be remaking some more of the older episodes to a better standard and I'll be covering new episodes soon.
