High Ergot Levels Threaten Our Wheat! Inside the Grain Lab’s Critical Role

In this video, we take you inside our grain lab for a deep dive into the crucial steps needed to save our wheat from high levels of ergot, one of the worst we’ve seen in years due to a wet winter. With the risk of mills rejecting our wheat, it's vital that we remove every trace of ergot to avoid massive losses. Thankfully, our 5-channel colour sorter is up to the task, detecting and sorting grains by color, size, and shape to ensure top-quality wheat for us and our customers.

We’re also busy blending wheat to balance the protein levels across our stock, meeting the strict standards set by the millers. Plus, we share your comments on Pete’s quest for a new wheelbarrow—it’s safe to say it brought a smile to his face!
