Instructional Strategy - Socratic Seminar

Socratic Seminar is a teaching strategy that promotes intellectual discussion in class and can be done in two different, though similar, ways. The staple of a Socratic seminar is that students should be arranged in a circle or oval so that visibility is increased, and the traditional learning environment of the classroom is disrupted. This intentional disruption promotes the difference in learning and communication style for the duration of the lesson or class period.
