Welcome to Eat Smart, Stay Strong!
Today, we're diving into one of nature's greatest gifts — the coconut tree, also known as the Tree of Life."
Let’s start with the most popular part — the coconut itself."
Coconut Water
Inside, you’ll find coconut water — hydrating, full of electrolytes, and perfect for a hot day.
Coconut Meat
The white meat is used in cooking, baking, and even turned into coconut flour, milk, and cream.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is prized for cooking — and for skin and hair care too!
The Leaves
The leaves are woven into roofs, mats, hats, fans, and wrappers for traditional food.
The Trunk
The trunk is a valuable source of wood used in building homes, furniture, and even bridges.
The Husk (Coir)
From the outer husk, we get coir — made into ropes, brushes, mattresses, and planting soil.
The Shell
The hard shell becomes charcoal, or is carved into bowls, spoons, buttons, and crafts.
The Roots
Even the roots have value — used in traditional medicine, natural dyes, and cleaning tools.
The Sap
The sap from the flower bud is turned into vinegar, coconut sugar, or fermented into wine, locally known as tuba.
From root to fruit, the coconut tree gives us food, shelter, fuel, and tools for life.
No wonder it’s called the Tree of Life.
