Film actor Manoj Kumar for his film on Bhagat Singh namely "Shahid" wanted some inputs from Bhagat singh's family so he enquired about them and found mother of the legend in hospital in Chandigarh.

He felt very bad to see the situation of the family of great martyr. He arranged a meeting of the family with the then prime minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. He also got shocked. He ordered immediate finance assistance to the family. But Bhagat Singh's family only wanted respect for Bhagat Singh and other martyrs.
