Tideway Clinker Dinghy Restoration Photographs

Описание к видео Tideway Clinker Dinghy Restoration Photographs

Here is a slideshow of a selection of photographs taken during the restoration of a Tideway clinker dinghy previously called First Watch. This Tideway is a wooden clinker dinghy constructed of mahogany planking and copper riveted oak timbers (or ribs). We believe it is most likely that she was built in 1964 and has had several name changes throughout the years, although the inclusion of a 0 in the sail number indicates that her history has been lost at some stage.

When the boat came in for restoration it was partially painted inside and she was in quite a tired condition but with some careful work we managed to get it back to a nice bright varnished finish all over and preserve the original planking.

We installed new timbers, primarily because it allowed us to properly clean up the painted hull. All of the original thwart and seat timber was cleaned up and saved although some of the seat slats needed backing in order to strengthen them as a few were broken.

We made a new set of sole boards from book matched ash and the boat was fitted out with all new bronze hardware and new rigging.

All of the varnished wood is finished with 3 coats of penetrating epoxy, then 6 coats of Epifanes PP, then 3 coats of Epifanes traditional gloss varnish.

I hope you enjoy the video. You can find me at all the places below for more info.
