This is the original 18th century version of the Hohenfriedberger Marsch before it was modified for modern military orchestra. You will notice that this version has different instrumentation, a more playful melody and that it is a little bit slower than the version we know today. This recording is based on sheet music from the 18th century, to be exact from 1795. This is what the march might have sounded like when the soldiers marched into the battlefield. Maybe the instrumentation was a bit weaker back then.

This historical version is not played very often; I only know 3 times it was recorded: 2 historical military music albums from the Bundeswehr (where the version heard in the video is taken from) and one very rare festive recording dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II., where the Hohenfriedberger starts with the 18th century version and then switches to the modern version.
There are also some "Fife and Drum" versions of the Hohenfriedberger in the Internet, however, it is doubtful how historically accurate these are.
