Improve the concept drawing of the flying robot to include a higher point of pivot and a swinging pendulum so that the wings swing back and forth mechanically. I draw a sequence of drawings of a bird in flight, then animate it to help understand the mechanics of what the wings need to do. I also draw sketches of the pistons and drive wheels of a steam engine and steam train to help with the design of the pendulum.

About Retro Roboland

I am making a steam punk mecha film using scale models filmed on green screen and minature diorama sets,

Retro Roboland is about a large living machine that works much like the human body, with thinking, sentient robots living inside and protecting it. A species of flying attack robots invade the living machine - programmed only to destroy.

On this channel, I demonstrate step-by-step how I bring Retro Roboland to life; drawing concept sketches, building physical models, and filming the models against green screen; to create a short film set during this robot war.

My building materials include cardboard, wood, styrene, balsa wood, copper tubing, every day packaging and plastic model kits. I build home made rigs to bring my robots to life as mechanical puppets.

I have been influenced by other Youtubers techniques in scratch bashing, kit basking and diorama building and various types of film making. Hopefully I can return the favour and inspire other creators to have a go,
