The tension between police and lawyers in Varanasi has escalated once again. After the incident where a Sub-Inspector was assaulted inside the court premises, an FIR has now been registered against several advocates.

In protest, members of both Central Bar Association and Banaras Bar Association staged a march inside the court complex. During a joint meeting, lawyers condemned the police action, calling it one-sided, and formed an 11-member steering committee to monitor the investigation.

This committee will review CCTV footage, ensure no unnecessary arrests are made, and also hold talks with the District Judge and Police Commissioner regarding fair investigation.

The ongoing conflict between police and advocates has now raised serious questions on law and order inside the court premises of Varanasi.
