European Union Ambassador to the Philippines His Excellency Massimo Santoro held a New Year’s Cocktail Reception for the Philippines Media at the EU Residence in Makati.

Ambassador Santoro expressed gratitude to the Filipino journalists for their contributions in sharing the initiatives of the European Union and EU Member State Embassies in the Philippines.

He reiterated EU’s commitment to truth telling and media freedom and underscored that nobody can interfere with the journalists’ judgment of the reality and their assessment of the reality.

Ambassador Santoro also assured the Filipino journalists that there are many friends around including in the diplomatic community and the people in the government who will continue to support the media and that the freedom of press which he said a very much common shared priority.
