Nehawu members in the Eastern Cape are demonstrating at Dora Nginza hospital in Gqeberha as health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize visits the facility.
The union has expressed concern over workers that have not yet gone back to work, following an extension of their contracts.
They are also demanding an increment from the department.
The Health minister is visiting the province to assess the state of health care and vaccine roll-out in the province.
