A sailboat rebuild is no small feat - and your help is needed. If you're not in the market to buy a boat, you can participate in the finishing of this restoration by either donating your time or by donating a modest amount of money to help get this classic beauty to the finish line. Either way is a great way to get involved!

In this week’s episode Canadian Ken and I go check out a very impressive schooner that is being rebuilt from stem to stern. Originally built right here in Maine back in 1925, the schooner Hindu has had an impressive and storied life, from being built for her original owner, running “spices” from India, serving in the “Hooligan” Navy patrolling for German U-boats, to serving as a whale watching vessel out of Provincetown, MA – her hailing port. Hindu suffered severe damage 5 years ago and came back to Maine to be repaired. What started as a repair quickly evolved into a complete rebuild. Now, nearly 100 years after she was launched, she will be launched again to begin anew – but continuing in her trade of taking passengers out to sea to enjoy the beauty of the Cape Cod coastline. The goal is to have her launched by June 15, 2024, so the end is in sight. However, there are still many costs associated with finishing this beautiful, William Hand, Jr., designed schooner – and you can help! So, if you’re not in the market to buy a boat, you can still participate and help get this wonderful vessel back in the water. Please visit: www.sailasyouare.org for more information.

Hindu is truly a special boat and over the past four years a community of like-minded sailors and helpers, both paid and volunteered, have worked together to make the “promise to the schooner Hindu” a reality.

For further details on how you can participate, visit www.sailasyouare.org. If you're local to the area and eager to pitch in, drop by the boat shed on US Route 1 in downtown Thomaston, ME. Feel free to stop by anytime or join the Hindu Crew for their Friday Open House sessions starting at 4:30 PM.
Thank you for your support!

Grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the show!
