Florida's dairy farmers conserve and reuse water by using fresh water for cows and equipment, then recycling wastewater to clean barns and fertilize crops, creating a sustainable cycle.

2️⃣ Sustainable Cow Feed
Dairy cows contribute to a sustainable food system by consuming agricultural byproducts like cottonseed hulls and orange peels, which would otherwise go to landfills. In Florida, citrus peels and pulp are dried and used as nutritious cow feed, providing energy and calcium for cattle while reducing waste. Their 4 stomachs help them digest byproducts and extract nutrients.

3️⃣Innovative Energy Solutions
Florida's Larson Dairy Farms has partnered with Brightmark to use methane digesters to convert cow manure into renewable natural gas, enough to power 4,000 homes. And they’re just one of many! U.S. dairy farmers aim for carbon neutrality by 2050 through the Net Zero Initiative.
