Individualism vs. Collectivism - ideological foundations

Individualism and collectivism aren't necessary ideologies themselves, but categories of ideological values that modern ideologies draw from. Individualism focuses on protecting the freedom of the individual, whereas collectivism tries to ensure the security and common good of society. Values of individualism and collectivism are seen in a different balance in different ideologies today.
