🧈 Ingredients
• Butter – 100 grams (softened)
• Sugar – 60 grams
• Egg yolk – 1
• Salt – a pinch
• All-purpose flour – 140–180 grams
• Baking powder – ¼ tsp
• Whole almonds – as needed
• Chocolate syrup or melted chocolate – for decoration



👩‍🍳 Method
1. In a bowl, mix butter and sugar until pale and creamy.
2. Add egg yolk and a pinch of salt; mix well.
3. Add all-purpose flour and baking powder gradually and make a soft dough.
4. Wrap the dough in cling wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
5. Roll out the dough and cut into star shapes using a cookie cutter.
6. Place cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
7. Place an almond on each cookie and gently fold the dough over it as shown.
8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 12–15 minutes, until lightly golden.
9. Once cooled, use chocolate syrup or melted chocolate to draw eyes and a smile with a toothpick.
