Ajna or third eye chakra is symbolized by a lotus with two petals, and corresponds to the color indigo. It is at this point that the two side Nadis Ida (yoga) and Pingala are said to terminate and merge with the central channel Sushumna, signifying the end of duality, the characteristic of being dual (e.g. light and dark, or male and female). The seed syllable for this chakra is the syllable OM, and the presiding deity is Ardhanarishvara, who is a half male, half female Shiva/Shakti. The Shakti goddess of Ajna is called Hakini.

Ajna (along with Bindu), is known as the third eye chakra and is linked to the pineal gland which may inform a model of its envisioning. The pineal gland is a light sensitive gland that produces the hormone melatonin which regulates sleep and waking up, and is also postulated to be the production site of the psychedelic dimethyltryptamine, the only known hallucinogen endogenous to the human body. Ajna's key issues involve balancing the higher and lower selves and trusting inner guidance. Ajna's inner aspect relates to the access of intuition. Mentally, Ajna deals with visual consciousness. Emotionally, Ajna deals with clarity on an intuitive level.

In Tibetan Buddhism, this point is actually the end of the central channel, since the central channel rises up from the sexual organ to the crown of the head, and then curves over the head and down to the third eye.

The "third eye," or pineal gland, is located at the center of our mind, and can be activated by certain frequencies, and that is the foundation of this music/soundscape; that particular frequency. I have studied the effects of different frequencies on our bodies and minds for over thirty years and have found that sound waves of certain frequencies can alter the frequency patterns in our brains.

Patterns caused mostly by external stimuli, can shift our being into "not so healthy" frequencies and cause depression, lethargy, etc.. Opening/stimulating the "third eye" can allow us to see much deeper into the world around us, and give us far more understanding of it. It can enhance empathy, compassion and understanding. With no one else around, relax, dim the lights, and listen to these frequencies. This can give you a much deeper understanding of your own perception of the world you live in. Perception creates attitude, attitude becomes character. Who you are is based firmly in how you perceive the world around you. By opening/stimulating the third eye, you can look deeper into yourself and your world.

Corresponding deity for material element of this Chakra is Soma.

Soma is revered as the deity of Ajna’s material element, infusing this chakra with the subtle nectar of enlightenment and bliss.”
