Education in Ancient India

Ancient India was a epitome of higher education. Starting with ashrams and gurukulams in the vedic period, education centers and universities were established all across India. The oldest universities in the world Takshashila and Nalanda were in ancient India. Students from China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and as far as Greece, Persia and Turkey came to India for their higher education.
