"Auckland in New Zealand has topped the ranking in the 2021 EIU's annual world's most liveable city survey. Classifying 140 cities across five categories including stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure, this year’s edition of the review has been highly affected by the global pandemic. Australia, Japan, and New Zealand took leading positions, while European and Canadian cities fell down the ranking."

Taking place mid-winter every year, Matariki signals the Māori New Year and begins with the rising of the star cluster of the same name.

Tāmaki Makaurau, it's time to celebrate with over 20 special events and activations taking place on our waterfront from June 19 to July 11. From weaving workshops to large-scale art displays, open-air music, food events and retail spaces reimagined - there's something for everyone.

Matariki on the Waterfront returns to Silo Park once more, promising two days of experiences to invigorate the soul and warm the senses in the cold chill of winter.

The waterfront will come alive with a range of Matariki activities, live entertainment, kai, and a place of connection, remembrance and renewal for all.
