MSFS Pilot's Dash7 Cold and Dark start at Kangerlussuaq Airport (BGSF)

Procedures here are as close to real life procedures as can get at this moment.
Kangerlussuaq is the biggest airport in Greenland and has been established by USA in the early 1940s and later developed further by NATO during cold war, when the commanding officers considered Greenland to be important frontier in protecting NATO borders from Soviet Union and its allies. At that time, todays Kangerlussuaq bore the name of Sondrestromfjord Air Base (equally unpronounceable to its modern counterpart) and was primarily military air base allowing transfer of troops and supplies between US and Europe.
BGSF was managed and was under military jurisdiction until early 1990 when it was given to the government of Greenland, however first passenger traffic was seen years earlier - in 1950s, mainly from Scandinavian Airlines which used Greenland as a stopover for its aircrafts flying to Los Angeles.
Currently Sondrestromfjord and its airport face major reconstruction or close down, as due to possibly climate change, the permafrost on which the whole airport stands begins to show signs of melting.
At the moment, Kangerlussuaq serves as a major connecting hub for passengers flying to Nuuk or other Greenlandic cities and Greenlandic scientific bases. There are advanced plans for new or rebuilt airports to serve jet aircrafts in southern Greenland in the future, so it is possible Kangerlussuaq will either serve as a minor airport only (due to shifts of interest of airlines towards sending planes directly to the capital, Nuuk) or will be closed entirely. Time will show. There is still NATO air base on the grounds of the BGSF, so it is possible (just my speculation), that it will remain open and serve to connect military and civilian personell with other places in the world.
