The View co-host Sunny Hostin has claimed WNBA star Caitlin Clark's popularity is due to her skin colour.

Hostin argued on Wednesday that “white privilege” and “pretty privilege” are why the Indiana Fever player is admired.

“I do think that there is a thing called pretty privilege. There is a thing called white privilege,” she said.

“There is a thing called tall privilege, and we have to acknowledge that, and so part of it is about race, because if you think about the Brittney Griner’s of the world, why did she have to go to play in Russia? Because they wouldn’t pay her.”

Co-hosts of the ABC show were discussing former ESPN host Jemele Hill's argument that Clark is popular because she is white and female.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg hit back at Jemele Hill’s comments about Clark's race during the show.

Goldberg stated the reason Clark is so popular is that “she’s a damn good player”.
