Almost Perfect - Glossy 240Hz OLED Gorilla Glass Monitor
During CES I had a chance to see a lot of actually good monitors unlike the utter trash we’ve been fed for over a decade, but there’s one display I just can’t stop thinking about.

The reason why is because unlike both WOLED monitors which have the absolute worst, most foul, awful, grainy matte coating I’ve ever seen in my life, or QD OLED, which while it looks great in a light controlled room, unfortunately has the worst reflection handling of any coating ever made since the coating basically shotguns light all over the display which of course then lights up the entire QD layer, this OLED gaming monitor has what I would consider to be a near perfect coating.

That’s right we’re talking about an excellent looking glossy finish which actually handles reflections well thanks to the corning gorilla glass coating. Now if you’ve never seen what corning gorilla glass looks like, let me tell you your in for a treat, because the clarity and ability to handle ambient light puts this finish in a class of its own, and any display that uses this glass will have a massive advantage over any other display on the market, and luckily for me I was able to see one such OLED during CES as well as get some info on an upcoming even more exciting display coming soon.

The display I'm talking about is the Spectrum Black from Dough. Now Dough has had some serious problems in the past judging by comments online, and believe me I get it, but say what you they make some really beautiful looking displays, and this one is by far the best one yet.

So I’m not gonna sit here and tell you to pre order it or anything, in fact I wouldn’t recommend pre ordering anything, let alone a monitor from a company people have been complaining about getting deliveries on time from or having issues with refunds, but let me tell you this display is the one I'm most excited for, because it's a 1440p 240Hz OLED that unlike all the other options on the market will actually look good.

Now we do have the option to get 360Hz QD OLEDs now, which are a great option for those of us who have the ability to control light in our room, but this simply isn’t a reality for all buyers, and that’s where the gorilla glass comes in.

But as exciting as this display is the one I'm actually most hyped for this year is their 32” variant, because this will be using LGs new 4K 240Hz OLED panel, with their latest RGWB subpixel layout which will benefit even more from a gorilla glass coating, and when I talked to Dough they told me August would be a realistic availability date for that one, but let’s be honest there's probably a good chance they won’t make that date either unless these LG panels start shipping far earlier than expected, but I do have some inside information on how bright the 4K LG OLEDs will be, and let me tell you it's going to be significantly brighter than the QD OLED options, which is very important as OLEDs biggest weakness is their brightness, so fingers crossed this dough gorilla glass model comes sooner rather than later, because love em or hate em, let’s be honest there's a good chance this will be far and away the best OLED monitor on the market, especially since it will be shipping with DisplayPort 2.1, and it sounds like they should actually be available not only from B&H, but also Best Buy, which are very reputable sites with great customer service making me far less hesitant to recommend the displays assuming they are available without any major firmware problems.
