Transcript: Today, I'm going to talk to you about utility rebates.

Have you taken a close look at your facility's utility bill lately? Notice any surcharges or fees on the bill for public programs? These are surcharges that everyone is paying to fund utility rebates and incentives for energy-related projects.

Here are three types of utility programs that can help you get your money back:

The first type of utility program is a prescriptive or express program. These rebates are available when you make energy-efficient upgrades to your facility and can include more efficient equipment, such as chillers, boilers, economizers, and lighting. These rebates and incentives follow rigid guidelines and typically offer set dollar values per retrofit.

The second type of rebate program is a custom program. Customized rebates are designed around energy saving projects that are usually more sophisticated or complex than those that fit into the prescriptive programs.

The third type of rebate program offsets the cost of professional services. These rebates can help pay for services, such as energy audits or retro-commissioning that can help identify and evaluate energy saving opportunities in your facility.
