VENICE, CA — Saturday, December 6, 2025 — Nathan “The Piano Man” Pino returned to his usual performance spot on the Venice Beach Boardwalk, drawing steady foot traffic as beachgoers paused to listen, take photos, and contribute to his tip jar. Pino performed on an upright piano loaned by a friend, allowing the longtime street musician to resume playing at Ocean Front Walk.

Pino has been a fixture on the boardwalk for more than two decades. In recent weeks, his instruments have been the focus of escalated enforcement: on October 31, city crews posted a written warning after finding two unattended pianos; on November 5, LAPD cited Pino under LAMC §42.15 for placement outside a marked performance box; and on November 19, crews discarded one heavily damaged piano and impounded another, posting a retrieval notice directing the owner to the downtown facility known as “The Bin.” Most recently, on December 5, Park Rangers issued a verbal warning at Pino’s space, stating that pianos may not be left unattended on the boardwalk and cannot be stored overnight on nearby public property; future violations, they said, could result in removal and disposal.

Saturday’s scene underscored continued community interest in seeing live piano on the promenade. While he plays the loaned instrument, Pino is working toward a longer-term, compliant setup for daily performances, including secure storage and proper mobility equipment.
