TOO CLOSE! Russellville, AL Tornado 19 March 2018 Storm Chase

My First tornado of 2018!
Chasing, and being chased by, a tornado that hit Russellville, AL. A "moderate" risk (4 out of 5) for severe weather was outlined and a PDS tornado watch (Particularly Dangerous Situation) was issued for the likelihood of numerous tornadoes. Chris Dickerson and myself were positioned just East of where storms initiated before they quickly became tornadic supercells, also producing significant hail including an Alabama record 5.25" diameter hailstone. We navigated our way throughout a line of dangerous supercells to come into contact with a fairly large multi-vortex tornado, eventually being impacted directly by an ever-intensifying storm and seeking shelter to allow the tornado to pass so we could pursue from behind. This video highlights our tornado chase throughout the day. (DISCLAIMER: As I've said before, it is NOT my intent to drive into tornadoes as I do not have a specially built vehicle for that and quite frankly it's just not my thing. We were chasing in a standard vehicle and while we may have chased aggressively we always take steps to maintain our safety.)
