Drummondville Quebec Centre Ville - Walking Tour

Drummondville est une ville de la région du Centre-du-Québec au Québec, située à l'est de Montréal sur la rivière Saint-François.

Drummondville est fondée en juin 1815 par le lieutenant-colonel Frederick Heriot. Le but de la ville était de fournir une maison aux soldats britanniques pendant la guerre de 1812 et de protéger la rivière Saint-François (St Francis) contre les attaques américaines. La ville porte le nom de Sir Gordon Drummond, lieutenant-gouverneur du Haut-Canada entre 1813 et 1816.

Depuis 2008, Drummondville accueille le Festival de la Poutine, vers la fin août; pendant trois jours, les gens sont invités à y assister à des concerts et à savourer plusieurs sortes de poutine, un plat canadien d'origine provinciale.

Drummondville is a city in the Centre-du-Québec region of Quebec, located east of Montreal on the Saint-François River.

Drummondville was founded in June 1815 by Lieutenant-Colonel Frederick Heriot. The purpose of the town was to provide a home for British soldiers in the War of 1812, and to guard the Saint-François (St Francis) River against American attacks. The town was named after Sir Gordon Drummond, the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada between 1813 and 1816.

Since 2008 Drummondville hosts Festival de la Poutine, towards the end of August; during three days people are invited to attend concerts there, and to savour several kinds of poutine, a Canadian dish of provincial origin.
