Heather was interested in adding a few offices and wondered what my cleaning system looks like for commercial compared to residential. I answer that question in this video and gave a ton more!

I have literally cleaned it all over my 16 years in business. Plus, I have learned from other cleaning company owners over the past 5 years. This includes large commercial janitorial companies. My experience in this industry thus ranges from the smallest house to the largest office complex. This knowledge has helped me so much in determining the niche of commercial cleaning I like most. It's small commercial. But what does that even mean? I explain this in detail in the attached video, but I'll briefly summarize here.

Small Commercial - This is janitorial cleaning of small single offices such as law firms, chiropractors, physical therapists, dentists, accountants, and so on. They are typically in need of cleaning once per week, biweekly, monthly, or quarterly. This frequency lines up nicely with the house cleaner's desired recurring schedule. I classify small commercial up to 6,000 square feet. Large janitorial companies rarely waste their time for such small accounts as these and when they do have a hard time keeping them happy. The house cleaner has a huge advantage here and dominates this segment. You can play in this sandbox if you're a solo cleaner or a large residential cleaning business. As a solo cleaner for 16 years, ALL of my commercial clients are in this segment. I love them. They are extremely reliable and easy to keep happy. The only downside are the nights & weekends schedule. It's worth it to me! 
Mid-Size Commercial - This is janitorial cleaning of small to mid-size offices complexes and banks in need of multiple visits per week (between 3-7). I classify mid-size commercial between 6,000 - 40,000 square feet. This segment is highly competitive against large residential cleaning companies and janitorial companies. In a generalized statement, house cleaning companies are more detailed than janitorial due to the nature of their primary work. This gives house cleaning companies an edge over janitorial for the clients that desire detail. Do not play in this box unless you have the residential or janitorial business infastructure to do so! 
Large Commercial - This is janitorial cleaning of major office complexes in need of daily cleaning. Typically, these buildings go over 100,000 square feet. I classify large commercial anything over 40,000 square feet. This segment is highly competitive with large janitorial companies and can oftentimes be cut-throat. Do not go play in this box unless you have the janitorial business infastructure to do so!
