“Profiles in Literature” is a series of half-hour interviews with leading authors, illustrators, and editors of children’s books, originally recorded on video cassette starting in 1969. Programs were first viewed in Temple University’s Children’s Literature classes, but when other institutions requested them, distribution began.

The series originator and copyright holder was Dr. Jaqueline Schachter Weiss (1926-2021), Temple University Associate Professor-Emerita of children's literature. Interviews are conducted by Shachter Weiss and Mrs. Carolyn W. Field (1916-2010), Coordinator of the Office of Work with Children at the Free Library of Philadelphia and ex-president of the U.S. section of the International Board on Books for Young People.
