I went from knowing almost nothing about board game design to creating my own fully 3D-printed game—Deadweight. Over months of playtesting, refining mechanics, and iterating on ideas, I built a competitive, strategy-driven game that balances risk and reward.

Inspired by mechanics from Trails, I developed a unique system of movement, plank flipping, and loot collection. In Deadweight, you race across the sinking ship Blackwake, scavenging treasure and trading with Mariners for life rings. Beware: treasure is just deadweight if it doesn’t buy you life rings!

Join me as I take you through the entire process—from the first paper prototype to the final, 3D-printed version of the game. I’ll share what worked, what didn’t, and how I refined everything to create an engaging, immersive board game.
