And here is the poem:
Slow down, The Caravan!
Saadi (1184 -1283/1291 CE)
Slow down, The Caravan!
Let me weep, let me sob!
Like the springs’ raining clouds!
Let me weep, weep; let me sob, sob!
Even the rocks moan- in time of farewel,
parting with the beloved!
O Cameleer!
My Cameleer!
Wait! Wait, slow down!
Rush not! Rush not the ride!
For My heart, My Beloved,
is on the track, me watching- on the side!
And life from my heart, and peace from my mind–
follows the trail, leaving me behind, leaving me behind!
O Cameleer!
My Cameleer!
Pause, slow down!
Do not hustle The Caravan!
When you are gone, my heart is gone!
My life is gone, with the beloved!
The Caravan rides–
And My Love strides–
graceful and swell, swell and in grace,
With a bitter heart, I can't follow the pace!
And a heated mace, oh by a poisoned mace,
My bones are pierced and my heartbeats race–
from far away, watching my beloved's fading trace!
Ask me not my name,
the tales of wealth and fame!
When Beloved is gone, nothing will remain!
When the Life departs, nothing shall remain!
And needless to say,
No! It’s needless to remind–
When Life is leaving- the body behind–
You speak frank and no one shall mind!
Here I stand, I watch on the side–
My Love is on the ride,
And my life departs!
All my life departs!
Then,
Let me weep, let me sob–
Like the springtimes’ raining clouds!
Let me weep, weep; let me sob, sob!
For even the rocks moan- in time of farewel,
when parting, parting with the beloved!
