Easy side dish recipe for rice or chapati using chayote squash and dal

Ingredients:

Chayote/Chow chow - 1 large size
Toor dal(pigeon pea split) - 1/4 cup
Moong dal(green gram split) - 1/4 cup
Green chilli -2 - slit
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Water as needed
Salt to taste

Coconut oil - 1tbsp
Ghee/clarified butter - 1tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Garlic - 1/2 tsp finely chopped
Ginger - 1/2 tsp finely chopped
Dry Red chilli - 2
Curry leaf - 1 sprig
onion - 2tbsp chopped
Tomato - 2tbsp chopped
Turmeric powder - 1/4tsp
Chilli powder - 1/4tsp
Asafoetida - pinch
Coriander leaves - 1tbsp chopped
Water as required
Salt to taste
