AI4EO CHALLENGE for ESA, PHI-UNET, UNOSAT, CERN openlab, RUS COPERNICUS

Phi-Unet is thrilled to announce the launch of a premium AI4EO challenge in partnership with ESA, UNOSAT (United Nations) and with the technical advisory of CERN.

The goal of the challenge is to help UNOSAT detect building footprints in Iraq with an artificial intelligence for earth observation model.

The Challenge is a unique opportunity to support three international giants (ESA, UNOSAT and CERN) on a humanitarian cause: the request of footprints comes from UNFPA, the United Nations Population Funds, which is assisting the Government of Iraq in the local census, crucial information source for the strategic planning of development and reconstruction activities.

The Challenge will be deployed in two phases: during Phase 1 candidates will have to detect urban areas using Sentinel 1 Data Provided by ESA.
During Phase 2 candidates will have to detect building footprints using very high resolution imagery (VHR) provided by UNOSAT.

Candidates will be provided with datasets and with free access to the RUS Training Platform for all the challenge duration.

Candidates who will submit the best projects will have the possibility to work together with the UNOSAT and CERN people and bring their model to reality.

To register to the challenge candidates must go to the website www.phi-unet.com/challenge-unosat and fill the form. It is possible to participate as a team.
After registration, candidates will receive a unique ID to access to the Challenge datasets and resources.
