Two months ago I saw the Pan Am Railways Office Car Special pass through Old Orchard Beach, Maine, while I was standing in line to order French fries. I was taken by surprise, and I was so intrigued by the sight of the train that I decided to make a YouTube channel devoted to trains. Now, on this beautiful Columbus Day, I can finally say that I've caught the train that rekindled my interest in railfanning. Best of all, it was a total surprise.

I wasn't expecting this train to show up. I was unprepared, and the video is a little choppy, but, hey... I was kind of excited.

Leading the OCS is a pair of GMD FP9's: PAR 1 and PAR 2. The locomotives were built in 1954 for Canadian National and were picked up by Via Rail at some point before being acquired by Conway Scenic in 1995. They were traded to Pan Am last year in exchange for ST 216 (EMD GP35) and BM/MEC 252 (EMD GP38). The pair of blue coaches, ST 101 and ST 100, were built by Pullman Standard in 1950 and by ACF in 1916, respectively. The Amfleet coach in the middle of the consist is an unusual addition to the OCS, and is being used here to accommodate the former employees of Pan Am World Airways on their way to World of Wings International at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, formally known as the Statler Hotel, in Boston, Massachusetts.
