An early morning Red Bank apartment fire leaves a number of families seeking shelter elsewhere.

The blaze started sometime after 1am at the Ravenscroft Apartments on Midvale Avenue. Ten units in the 3-story building were occupied at the time. Firefighters told residents they could grab some things, but would then have to leave since it was not safe for them to stay.

Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee is helping some of the displaced residents. Red Bank firefighters reported one resident's dog died in the fire. The cause is under investigation.

Ravenscroft Apartments is no stranger to fires. Back in July a fire was contained to one unit. No one was hurt in that fire, but the blaze did enough damage to force six families to stay the night at the Red Bank Baptist Church.
