Trevor Philpott and his trusty cameraman Slim Hewitt report from the Alps, on the engineering complexities of building the Mont Blanc tunnel, and on the hardy souls who are working in extreme conditions to make it a reality. Work on the project is slow and dangerous, but upon its completion it will provide a vital link between France and Italy in winter months, and for a time it will be the longest man-made tunnel in the world.
