Of the countless documentaries that I've narrated, this is one of which I'm especially proud — Justin Clifton and Chris Cresci's animated short based on the words of Edward Abbey, an irreverent critic of development of the Colorado Plateau and the associated Canyon Lands.

Justin and Chris were looking for the voice of a weary, grizzled old cowboy to play the voice of Abbey, which was a relief. I love playing Western characters, but the real Edward Abbey, although weary and grizzled, was originally from Pennsylvania. He spoke with more of a Pennsylvania coal country accent in a somewhat staccato manner.

My narrative for "A Line In the Sand" was recorded at PRC Digital Media in Jacksonville, Florida with Chris Linke engineering the session. The film went on to win many awards and inspire environmentalists in the Southwest and elsewhere.
