Building the Google Vision Kit - Artificial Intelligence Project

Earlier this year, Google kicked off AIY Projects to help makers experiment with and learn about artificial intelligence. The first release is the AIY Voice Kit. On November 30, 2017, Google announced the second AIY Project - the Vision Kit. This is the first project that features on-device neural network acceleration, providing powerful computer vision without a cloud connection.

The main component of AIY Vision Kit is the VisionBonnet board for Raspberry Pi. The bonnet features the Intel® Movidius™ MA2450, a low-power vision processing unit capable of running neural network models on-device.

In this first video, I will start with a brief recent history of Artificial Intelligence (AI), then I will show you how to build the AIY Vision Kit. The video will conclude with a demo showing the device's capability of recognizing faces and their expressions.
