After weeks of hard work, Hospice's Retail Team has proudly opened its fabulous new shop in Ballymena!

The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman William McCaughey, cut the ribbon to officially open the store and welcome the first customers. The Mayor is himself a Hospice supporter: after his father was cared for in IPU a number of years ago, he undertook a 100km fundraising cycle in aid of Hospice. We were also chosen as the Mayor's charity of the year during his previous time in the role.

Also attending were members of our wonderful Ballymena Hospice Support Group.

Well done to NI Hospice’s Head of Retail Alan Kennedy and all those who went above and beyond in their efforts to make the shop look so amazing on opening day, including Area Managers Fiona Borkowski and Tanya Dempsey, Retail Support Managers Michael Steenson and Courtney Hagans, and Supervisors Heather Caldwell and Tamzin Murray.

And a huge welcome to the manager of the Ballymena Hospice Shop Emma Caughey, as the opening was actually her first day in the job! Welcome to Team Hospice Emma!

NI Hospice has been looking to return to retailing in Ballymena, after a few years away from the town. It took a while to find the right location but the early enthusiastic support from local people is a very encouraging sign that it was the right decision and bodes well for the future.
