𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 (𝐇𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐡'𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞)
It is a triangular area in the inner aspect of the lower part of the anterior abdominal wall.
𝑩𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔:
a. Medial ------- Lateral border of rectus abdominis muscle.
b. Lateral ------- Inferior epigastric artery (and vein).
c. Inferior ------ Medial half of the inguinal ligament.
The floor is formed of fascia transversalis.
This triangle is divided by the “medial umbilical ligament” (obliterated umbilical a.) into:
a. Supravesical fossa (medially)
b. Medial inguinal fossa laterally
The area just lateral to the inguinal triangle is called the lateral inguinal fossa.
𝑪𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆:
It is a weak part of the anterior abdominal wall that may give passage to the DIRECT inguinal hernia

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐚?
Hernia is the abnormal passage of the abdominal viscera through certain anatomical
areas of the abdominal walls. (الفتق الاربى)
Inguinal hernia is a common type and it is further subdivided into:
a. Indirect inguinal hernia
It is common in the younger age.
The viscera pass through the deep inguinal ring, then through the inguinal canal.
The NECK of the hernia lies lateral to the “inferior epigastric artery”.
b. Direct inguinal hernia
It is common in the older age.
It occurs in the inguinal triangle (medial inguinal fossa).
The NECK of the hernia lies medial to the “inferior epigastric artery”.
