Karnataka: Belagavi Woman Stripped, Paraded Naked After Son Elopes with Girl | SoSouth

In a horrifying incident in Hosa Vantamuri village, just 9 km from the legislative session at #SuvarnaSoudha in #Belagavi, #Karnataka, a 42-year-old woman, Kamalavva, faced unspeakable brutality on Monday, December 11. Her crime? Her 24-year-old son, Dundappa Lagamappa Gadakari, eloped with 19-year-old Priyanka Basappa Naik, sparking outrage from Priyanka's family.

Despite belonging to the same community, Priyanka's family opposed their relationship due to Dundappa's profession as a truck driver. Threats were made against Dundappa's life if he continued the relationship, pushing the couple to flee the village in the early hours of Sunday, December 10.

In a vengeful attack, Priyanka's family targeted Kamalavva's house, dragging her out, stripping her, parading her naked on the streets, and subjecting her to a violent assault. Prompt police intervention rescued Kamalavva, who is currently undergoing treatment at KLE Hospital, Belagavi.

Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, with a search ongoing for five others. Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara, condemning the "inhuman" act, pledged stringent action against the perpetrators. #chiefminister #siddaramaiah expressed the government's commitment to ensuring justice for the aggrieved family and severe punishment for the culprits.
