I Never Knew How Korea Dominated Global Shipbuilding Until I Visited Geoje Island

In Seoul, we don’t often talk about Korea’s heavy industries, as they are primarily located in the far south of the peninsula. One notable place is Geoje Island, home to two major shipyards that work tirelessly to keep South Korea at the forefront of the global shipbuilding industry. I had never visited Geoje Island, so I took this opportunity to explore Hanwha Ocean shipyards and their surroundings, and to learn more about Korea’s impressive standing as a shipbuilding powerhouse.
