This is an amazing 3D model of the SP SP-1 by Brian Snook (http://jointedrail.com). It was released a few years ago with incredible detail and a flawless livery. We love this 3D model as well as the engine in real life, we are going to create more videos with this powerful steam engine.

In this video, the plot in fiction is: Due to the lack of power available, the SP-1 was hauling a special troop train attached behind a wartime special section of the "City of San Francisco" during World War II. The extra long consist is set to 1800 tons in weight and the train will have to go through the Donner Pass (The route we use is Mojave Sub Division as a replacement)! Will she capable to complete the mission alone?!

The real train was given the Class name "Southern Pacific", all 16 of them (#5000-#5015) delivered in 1925, originally bought for dual service on the Sacramento Division or "The Hill" the mountain line over the Sierra Nevada or Donner Pass. They were given the Russia Iron boiler jacket, white walls, and a very shiny coat of black paint. Class SP-1 was good for fast service with 12 passenger cars, lesser service with 14 Pullmans and managed 17 cars eastbound on the lesser western grade.

The Southern Pacific's SP-1 Class of locomotives had a 225 PSI boiler pressure, 63.5" drivers, three cylinders, producing 86,589 lbs. of tractive effort. They were also equipped with a Franklin C-2 booster engine on the trailing truck that boosted the tractive effort to a total of 96,530 at low speeds. Thank you for watching!
